The Fargo-Davies Eagles beat Bismarck High Demons 4-3 in double-overtime Thursday, Feb. 23, 2001 in the North Dakota State Boys High School Hockey Tournament at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks. -

Mud volleyball helps participants get in touch with nature and the elements as the sport continues to be a popular facet of Argyle, Minnesota's annual town festival "Meet Your Neighbor Days" held the last weekend in June just before Independence Day. -

2010 NCAA DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL: Bison over USD 38-16 (9)
North Dakota State tailback D.J. McNorton and The Bison cruise to a 38-16 thumping over South Dakota at Fargodome. NDSU overcame a sluggish first half to dominate the Coyotes in the second as McNorton rushed for 250 yards n 20 carries. -

2009 IIHF WORLD U18 HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: USA OPENS U18 WITH A "W" (14)
USA peppered Sweden with goals in the opening round of the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championship and emerged with an 8-0 win Thurday, April 9th at Fargo's Urban Plains Center. The tournament, which runs through April 19th, is being played for the first time in the United States. -
2009 NCAA HOCKEY: UND Fighting Sioux win WCHA Title March 14 in Grand Forks (8)
The UND Fighting Sioux beat Michigan Tech University 4-3 Saturday, Mar. 14, 2009 to win the WCHA Conference and take home its 14th MacNaughton Cup at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks. Standout Ryan Duncan scored the hat trick - well, almost - in just over three minutes of play in the second period to lead UND. Upon further examination of video of his second goal, though, it was determined that Moorhead High alum Chris VandeVelde was the scorer because the puck careened off him into the net. -

North Dakota State sits atop the Summit League with a 4-1 record after their dazzling, come-from-behind win Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Bison Sports Arena against IUPUI. Down by four with just over a minute left in regulation time, NDSU came back to beat the Jaguars 55-52. -

Eight new inductees joined the Bison Hall of Fame during the 37th Annual Induction Ceremony Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at the Fargo Holiday Inn. This year's class includes women's basketball 29-year coach Amy Ruley; fullback Jack Hagen representing the undefeated, national Division II champion 1968 football team; David Ryles, basketball guard standout from the 1983-87 time period; women's basketball All-Americans Jody Buck Stefonowicz 1985-88, and Nadine Schmidt from the 1989-93 season; All-America football player Paul Lenz (1985-88) and All-American javelin thrower Todd Johnson (1989-92. PHIL JACKSON HONORED AUGUST 25, 2008 BY UND (6)
Phil Jackson, possibly the most well-known North Dakotan on the planet, was honored at his alma mater - the University of North Dakota - Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 during a convocation at the Chester Fritz Auditorium on campus. UND president Robert O. Kelley and Dean Martha Potvin presented a honorary doctorate degree to Jackson, 1967 grad who is tied with legendary Celtics coach Red Auerbach as the NBA's highest championship-winning coach with 9 wins - six with the Chicago Bulls and three with the LA Lakers. He also won two as a fabled "sixth man" with the New York Knicks during his playing days. -

BISON SUPER FAN RETIRES: Leo Blotsky feted at Holy Spirit (9)
His license plate says "BisonFan"; a granite statue in his front yard pays homage to NDSU football and he flies the Bison flag there also. Leo Blotsky and his wife Donna, have been Bison football fans since the outdoor days of Dacotah Field beginning over 30 years ago. At his retirement party 8/14/08 at Holy Spirit in north Fargo, Leo received a hero's sendoff amid all things green and gold. He leaves his 22-year position as its business manager and a crowd of about 400 sent Leo out in style. -
NDSU BISON FOOTBALL 2OO8: A Serious Look At Media Day (4)
The television camera was rolling Monday and Bison football players chose a variety of ways to etch their personalities into video that will be shown on the big screens this season at home games in the Fargodome. Here are a few examples...Junior linebacker Tyler Henry of Bloomington, Minn., has a message for his mother; junior running back PAT PASCHALL of St. Louis, MO., tries his sleight-of-hand with a magic trick; standout senior cornerback Nate Agbetola of Sugar Land, TX dons a bison hat and compares headgear with senior defensive end Nick Compton of Rosemount, Minn.; and, Rolla, N.D., sophomore running back Lee Vandal -looking every bit the cowboy - ropes in some attention with his lariat and white cowboy hat. -
MUD VOLLEYBALL: Argyle's 125th Celebration (7)
Oh, what a mess - but it's great fun! Gettin' down and dirty in the mud is what it was all about during Mud Volleyball - just one of the great times during Argyle's 125th Anniversary Celebration late June 2OO8 in this small community located in northwestern Minnesota.
