Can't believe it has been over a year since I last corresponded here - but just wanted everyone to know I am still alive...I have had many personal changes this year and business continues to take a big chunk of my time.  Just wanted to share the amazing colors at Maplewood State Park - Lora and I took a short day trip yesterday and joined the throngs of other photogs elbowing each other out of the way...

Monday,  9/19/11

If ever you need evidence of why we live in this area, exhibit A could be the Coler Family Tailgate Benefit held this past Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church South in Fargo.  John Coler is battling pancreatic cancer and the faith community there along with many other friends and family in the region and around the country came together at Hope for the huge event.  It was an outpouring of love, concern and resources...see my photo gallery in "Photo Features" for a look at the festivities.

Let's be careful out there...

Best, Bruce.

A recent trip to Bismarck to cover the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference & Expo at the Civic Center there netted me a ZUMA Press International "Photo of the Day"...

featured Rep. Earl Pomery (D-ND) wearing a traditional American Indian headdress, presented to him moments before by ND Three Affliated Tribes, while addressing the conference.  Seems the tribes' Forth Bertthold Reservation is smack dab in the middle of the Bakken Formation - which some industry experts predict could be producing nearly 1 million barrels a day by the end of this decade.

Let's be careful out there...

Best, Bruce.

Friday, 3/5/10

Well,  it looks like we're gonna be in the soup...again.

Both Fargo and Moorhead are ramping up once more to fight a major flood with sandbag-making operations well-underway on both sides of the Red. Fargo hopes to have 1 million bags made by St. Patrick's Day next Saturday while Moorhead is locked in on 300,000...

All this is precautionary and advance planning as water experts are telling us we are wetter this March than in '09...

I am debuting a special offer today...with the purchase of each "2009 Red River Historic Flooding" photo books here, I am throwing in a free, commemorative 11X17" color flood volunteers "Thank You" poster - sorry, F-M metro area only...(see above)

Let's be careful out there!

Best, Bruce.

Saturday, 12/19/09

Rouse the children!  Wake the neighbors!  Hitch up the horses!  Come to my new online store - debuting at http://www.brucecrummy.com - my archive/e-commerce site - sometime in January...

To kickoff the change, I am slashing prices on my 8X10 and 4X6 inch reprints down to $9.99 and $4.77 respectively almost immediately!!

Have a great holiday season all and let's be careful out there.

Best, Bruce.

Hello all...

Just back from a few days out in western Colorado and southeastern Utah.  Will be posting those photographs here over the next several days.

My oh my,  the beauty of erosion over millions of years...

You will see what I mean when I have the opportunity to share my images from Moab, Utah and other locales I visited over the weekend...

Let's be careful out there!

Best, Bruce.

Sunday, 10/4/09

Just coming off a wonderful weekend as a participating studio in the Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists-sponsored  Studio Crawl - a two day, free-to-the-public, tour of more than 30 artists' studios across the F-M area.  Met lots of wonderful people this weekend at my studio and appreciate everyone that was so kind to stop by and visit!

The credit card ordering issues have been resolved here so my flood book may be purchased:HERE...

Thank you for your patience!

Let's be careful out there...

Bruce.

My fervent apologies, people...

Having problems with the credit card ordering function regarding my flood book, online sales - so have suspended that function pending getting those problems resolved.

A fix should be forthcoming shortly...

Let's be careful out there...

Hello folks, for it is I - your humble, cyberspace servant coming to you live from the West Acres mall where I am sitting in the GUY section...

Wanted to let everyone know that my flood book launch party/open house on 8/27 went very well with a steady stream of visitors coming and going at my studio all evening long...

The following Monday, I was on the phone ordering a second printing and am pleased with how sales are going thus far.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Am scheduled to be interviewed Monday, Sept. 21 about my flood book live on WDAZ-TV Grand Forks with reporter extraordinaire Terry Dullum during their 5 p.m. newscast...

Will have a booth at the F-M Homebuilders Show the last weekend in September Sat. & Sun., at the Fargo Civic Center - stop by and say hello if you are there...

I am taking part in The Studio Crawl - basically a Tour of Homes for artists - on Oct. 3 and 4 in Fargo-Moorhead.  Artists in all genre's open their studios from 12-6 each day for the public to stop by (free of charge) and check out the artist's work and their digs...

Following a several month period of getting out my flood book, I am just now finally able to get back to a more rounded schedule of shooting these days - shot a couple weddings the past two weekends and will share the highlights here with you all soon...

Let's be careful out there - Bruce.

Tuesday, 6/16/09

Hi...remember me?

OK, so it's been about two months since I last communicated with you - my loyal visitors - in this space...

Why, you may query, has it been such a long drought?

Been busy putting the finishing touches on the first of two photo flood books I am publishing soon documenting the 2009 Red River of the North and Sheyenne River flooding;  and, am rolling out Bruce Crummy Photography Seminars to debut Wednesday evenings from 6-9 beginning July 8th in my downtown Fargo studio at 806 Main Avenue.

Details on both coming soon - here...

Am off to photograph the 3rd Annual Moondance Jammin' Country music festival this Thursday through Saturday near Walker, Minn., where I will be filing daily photo galleries to...

http://www.hpr1.com

...the High Plains Reader website.

Let's be careful out there,  Bruce.

A heads up that I have gotten a good start on posting my all-inclusive gallery of the 2009 IIHF World Junior U18 Hockey Championships with about two dozen images from the final, gold medal game won by Team USA over Russia 5-0. Those of you who may be interested can go directly to my Flickr gallery of this here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36560088@N06/sets/72157617115405242/

As time allows, I will work backwards through this tournament and post several photos from each game I covered - please bear with me...

Reason I mention this is that eventually all the photos I took at the nine-day hockey tournament can be seen in that one spot - though I have several galleries posted in my "Sports & Leisure" galleries here.

Still doing flood coverage so my time can be fragmented.

Let's be careful out there..

Best, Bruce.

Saturday, 4/18/09

Alot of water has gone over the road so to speak since we last talked here but suffice it to say I haven't been twittling my thumbs...

For those of you interested, I have posted a Flickr gallery entitled "2009 N.D. Sheyenne River Flood" and it can be found at this URL:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36560088@N06/sets/72157616897882762/

To reiterate, my Red River Flood photos can be found on Flickr here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36560088@N06/sets/72157615720975499/

Hoping to get one up there about the World U18 Juniors World Hockey Championships that wrap up tommorrow at the Urban Plains Center...

Still flood coverage on the horizon though it is not at the fever pitch as of a week or two ago...

Thanks for all your emails and inquiries, I enjoy hearing from you all...

Let's be careful out there...

Best, Bruce.

Saturday, 4/4/09

To better serve you in this time of crisis, I have moved my Spotlight blog out front to now occupy the home page position. My reason for doing this is that our flood situation has turned into a fast breaking, ever-changing spot news story...

By now, many of you have heard that yesterday the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, Minn., released its new Red River 2nd crest prediction - and it ain't pretty folks. A 75% chance we could equal or exceed last week's all-time record levels and a 25% chance it could go even higher than that. Stay tuned...

Let's be careful out there!

Best, Bruce.

Tuesday, 3/31/09

Hi folks, seems like I've finally been able to come up for air as our flood situation here is at least stabilizing and hopefully the raging Red will continues its slow drop.

In case any of you are interested, I've posted a Flickr folder of my flood photos so that would be a convenient single place for you to go and see everything I have shot. Here's the link:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36560088@N06/sets/72157615720975499/

Let's be careful out there...

Muddingly yours, Bruce.

Saturday, 3/21/09

Seemed like just last week (actually, it was) we were digging out from under a mountain of snow from the biggest blizzard I've seen since 1996-97, and now, here we are, on the cusp of possibly THE highest Red River flood crest ever from almost exactly half the amount of snowfall during that winter...what gives? We'll leave the explanation to the pundits, academicians and engineers, but Fargo's looking at one hell of a flood fight in the next couple of weeks. I will be shooting lots of photos documenting the fight and sharing with you - and ZUMA Press - so check back regularly here. BTW, one of my snow photos from last week's blizzard was on msnbc.com during the blizzard cycle...

Hoping to post a photo gallery from the "Girl's Night Out" fashion revue show I shot Thursday night at the Fargo Theatre - an evening for the ladies including wine and another yet viewing of Sex In The City...

Tuesday, 3/10/09

This is a good day to stay home...

We have a raging blizzard outside, schools are closed and businesses probably should be.

I will get out and hoof it this afternoon to shoot some weather photos today to share here and thentommorrow as well with the cleanup...

Hoping to shoot the Fighting Sioux opening round hockey playoff series with Michigan Tech this weekend at The Ralph up in Grand Forks...

Having the Grand Opening for my new studio space downtown this Thursday night and looks like the weather will be a far cry from today, so let's keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

Stay inside today, but if you have to go out...let's be careful out there!

Best, Bruce.

Monday, 3/2/09

My gallery of North Dakota state wrestling champions is now complete in "Sports & Leisure - it's called TOP OF THE HEAP...

Will be working over the course of this week to fill in many more action shots from the tourney as time allows...

Not yet sure if I will be shooting the North Dakota State Class A Basketball Tourney Mar. 13-15 at the Fargodome...

Frantically scrambling to pull together final details for the grand opening of my new studio location downtown...

Many thanks to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead for their very nice article on Natalie Sparrow, owner of Ultimate Modeling & Talent Agency and yours truly.  Natalie and I will be sharing the new office digs one door east of Mexican Village on Main Avenue in Fargo...

That's it...let's be careful out there!

Best, Bruce.

Friday, 2/27/09

Working on my "TOP OF THE HEAP" gallery in Sports & Leisure - each of the North Dakota High School State Wrestling champions in both A and B classes culled from my photographs of the finals last Saturday at the Fargodome.  Hoping to get it all up by the end of the weekend - so stay tuned...

Also bit by bit attempting to complete my compilation of aerial photographs from the 1997 Red River Valley record flooding in my Weather galleries section.  Sure hope we don't have a repeat this spring but I've got my waders ready just in case...

Have moved into my new studio location at 806 Main Avenue in Fargo (one door east of Mexican Village) where I am sharing 1200 sq ft. with Natalie Sparrow, owner of Ultimate Modeling & Talent Agency.  Each of us require appointments so please be so kind as to make them if you need to chat...

That's it, stay warm and let's be careful out there...

Best, Bruce.

My camera body-less period continues and my trigger finger is twitching badly...

Have knocked down a couple of corporate jobs last week and am within an eyelash of moving into studio space downtown Fargo - stay tuned...

SITE SKINNY...

Just topped 500 unique visitors today - thanks to all of you out there for your interest...

Sales tax collections are due presently, so back to work on that  for the bean counters - ain't biz grand?

Let's be careful out there..

RIP...

For any of you out there that do alot of shooting, the inevitable is bound to happen...

In case you saw me at the Bison men bb game Tuesday night against Southern Utah at the BSA, hate to disappoint but no pictures are forthcoming from it...

I blew out the shutter on my Canon EOS-1D Mark II  -  a phenomenal camera body,  BTW.

Luckily I have good friends with like equipment that came to my rescue and my downtime will be virtually nil - thanks Rick!!

SOOO, it's off to Canon Pro Services on the West Coast and life goes on...

My Advanced News Photography class at NDSU is going very well - the kids are a great group and I'm looking forward to a super semester - now if I could only get some tech issues ironed out things will go alot smoother for my students...

Looking at some downtown office space today for potential future studio digs, though still evaluating if that is practical at this stage - stay tuned...

Doing some local leg work for a couple international sports photogs getting ready for the U18 World Hockey Tournament at  the new UP Center in Fargo and the Moorhead Sports Center here in early April - first time ever hosted by the U.S. - BTW...

Hoping to get up to The Ralph to shoot this Saturday's Sioux hockey against Denver...

Just updated my sportsshooter gallery so take a peak if you haven't been there in a while - here's the link...

Top of the morning everybody.

In case you haven't noticed, we got more snow Saturday.  So now, on top of our all-time high snowfall of 33.5 inches in December - we've got more...

Direct your attention to my Spotlight blog where I,  your humble cyberspace servant, engage in a bit of braggadocio.  Check out today's entry...

No cross country skiing in town now, hear?

Let's be careful out there.

Best, Bruce.

Happy New Year people!

Wanted to let you know I finally got a oouple holiday concert photo shoots from mid-December just now posted here - Sarah Morrau at the Plains Art Museum and Brenda Weiler at her new Yoga studio...both in downtown Fargo.

For you sports fans, check out my photo gallery sort of mish-mash of about 4-5 of the last few North Dakota State Bison sports events I have shot the last couple of months now posted here and on my archive/e-commerce site at www.brucecrummy.com - also shot the Bison women game against Creighton University at Bison Sports Arena Monday this week and that, too, is "up" here and on my other site.

I'm looking forward to shooting the Fighting Sioux-Gopher hockey series next weekend at The Ralph in Grand Forks and I pray the weather cooperates...

Best luck to you all on a happy and prosperous 2009!

Let's be careful out there...

Best,  Bruce.

Sunday, 12/7/08

Greetings everyone...

I have finally posted the Fashion Avenue photographs - an event that transpired what seems like weeks ago (Tues., 11/18/08 to be precise) and I've finally gotten my act together and got them on my site - sorry to those of you that have been waiting so long...

Hoping to dive into the YWCA benefit fashion show photos next and soon!

Photographed sundogs over the Church of the Nativity yesterday in south Fargo - they are a wonderous gift of nature I never tire of observing...check out my Spotlight blog for that image.

Will be shooting this week, but not quite sure what and hope to devote lots of time and effort to getting caught up on my galleries...

Only a handful of shopping days left until Christmas - dare I suggest a print(s) from my e-commerce site?

Let's be careful out there...

Bruce.

Friday, 11/21/08

My apologies folks...

I was foolish enough to think I could get four championship football games and a hockey series up in short order - however, life happens constantly and I am running behind.

Soooo, please bear with me as I wade through a mountain of files to sort out the photographs for galleries of the Dakota Bowl games last weekend in Grand Forks - I have the Nine-Man and Class A photos now posted and the Sioux hockey series against Alaska Anchorage are also up...

I shot a YWCA fashion benefit show last night at Lady Wellness in south Fargo - long story short - it put me further behind...all in good time my friends.

Will be shooting the Bison/SDSU football game tommorrow night at the Fargodome and if I don't shoot anything after that for a couple days I should get caught up.

Thanks for your patience...

Let's be careful out there,

Bruce.

Monday, 11/17/08

Friends,

We're just coming off football championship weekend in North Dakota and I'm working today to post a half dozen or more galleries from the Dakota Bowl at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks encompassing action and reaction photographs from each of the four title games - please check back mid-evening tonight for these images...

Also, will do a combo gallery from the UND Fighting Sioux hockey series against Alaska Anchorage at the Ralph from Friday and Saturday nights past incorporating photos from both games - North Dakota split with Alaska winning Saturday night 3-1 after having almost pulled out a miracle win the previous night with two goals in rapid succession late in the third period but came up short 3-2.

Looking ahead to later in the week, will be shooting the Bison-Jackrabbits football game in the Fargodome Saturday night - this is always a barnburner regardless of what kind of season either team has had when South Dakota State invades the Fargodome so should be some good photos there...

Also, I'm on track to shoot  "Fashion Avenue" - Radio Fargo-Moorhead's fundraiser event to benefit Dan Michael's Christmas Gift program for the upcoming holidays to be held tommorrow night in the Great Hall at the Fargo Holiday Inn.

Let's be careful out there,

Bruce.

Monday, 11/3/08

After a busy weekend of sports, I have finally gotten a few site features put in place to facilitate easier navigation for you - the visitor.

I'm sure many of you were wondering what the he#$ "Just the Facts Ma'am" was all about, right? Finally,  I have the copy of my updates actually on the homepage to signal the visitor that there is something new to check out...

Also, I am putting in place a linking feature in my Spotlight blog in that by clicking anywhere on the graphic presentation that includes the photograph you will automatically be taken to the corresponding photo gallery category.  Please be patient, I will need to get more of these activated than I do at the present...

A few recent additions...

For you sports fans, I have Spotlights and galleries up now from my shoot of opening night Fargo Force hockey inaugural season at the brand new Urban Plains Center that brought out a sellout crowd of 5,000 screaming hockey fans last Thursday in southwest Fargo;   I shot the Fighting Sioux hockey season home opener against the Wisconsin Badgers on Halloween and am looking forward to bringing you as many home games from the Ralph as I can this season;   the Bison returned to the win column Saturday night against Indiana University at the Fargodome...

BTW, any of you out-of-town sports photogs that may be shooting in the new UP Arena in the future can look forward to "saaweeet" lighting there - would say it rivals the brightness of The Ralph up in Grand Forks...

For you fashion lovers, I hope to have a Spotlight and extensive gallery up later today in "Modeling & Fashion"  from last Thursday night's Fall Fashion show by Olivieri's Salon and Spa at The Venue in Fargo - a charity event that I shoe-horned into my schedule while simultaneously covering the Fargo Force hockey opener at the UP Center...

Am planning on shooting the Bison Womens basketball season opener tonight against the University of Mary at the Bison Sports Arena;  and, tommorrow night will be on the prowl for some kind of interesting feature pic from the election for ZUMA Press...

As always, love to hear from you so keep those emails coming!

Let's be careful out there,

Bruce.

Thursday, 10/16/08

Just a few random musings...

I'm planning to shoot  a gallery of photographs of the "1st Annual Downtowner 10 to 10" event tonight 10/16 in downtown Fargo...

Am all set to shoot opening night of the Fargo Force, F-M's new hockey team, at the UP Center Oct. 30...

Have requested photo credentials for the Jewel concert Nov. 2 at the UP Center in Fargo...

Working on Eldon Johnson's new CD cover art...

Will hopefully get ramped up to provide a "meatier" Just The Facts, Ma'am column in the near future...

Let's be careful out there...

Bruce.

Tuesday, 10/7/08

Greetings and salutations everybody...

I have been wading through a heavy weekend of shooting and am making some progress in getting up the galleries for those events which are: 2008 North Dakota State Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony; Bison Women's soccer; Bison 2008 homecoming and all the attendant hoopla including the game against Southern Illinois and its head coach Dale Lennon (some of you may remember him), and a quick trip way up northern Minnesota for some ag photos...

I had a guy email me with a question about former Fargo-Moorhead rockers Mata Hari and how he might be able to find one of their songs - which is his favorite. However, when I hit reply, it bounced right back to me. Hey, if you see this, shoot me a working email and I will try to help you out - I know those guys.

Let's be careful out there,

Bruce.

Monday, 9/29/08

Hello friends...

Today, I am debuting some changes on my site as you are aware because you are reading this - my new column to keep you, the visitor, up to date on the Crummy world of photography...

I have changed my "Odds & Ends" gallery (what the hell was I thinking with that name?) to "Photo Features" and have now added a few more gallery categories including "Corporate & Advertising"; "Portraits & Family", and a real daring move for me: "Modeling & Fashion"... Check out my first foray into this today with a set of photographs one might call glamour shots.

A month and a half into my new business and I am quite pleased with my progress toward keeping busy and look forward to taking pictures of some of you - if you will be so kind as to allow me to have you as my client...

For reasons not entirely clear to me, this new site of mine could not be merged with my old site: brucecrummy.com. SOOO, I have simply relegated that one to archive/e-commerce status. To my complete surprise and amazement, traffic on it continues to be quite strong - thank you all out there for your interest...

If any of you have suggestions for improving either site, want to pick my brain about photography, music or whatever, email me or join my spotlight blog - looking forward to conversing with other photogs or music maniacs such as myself...

Let be careful out there, Bruce.
